2017 Spring Circuit Set to Tip Easter Weekend
Posted by dinaThe 2017 high school basketball season for boys and girls is just entering the home stretch, and the spring travel circuit is getting closer to tipping off. The 2016 tournament season brought in teams from as far away as France, Germany, China, Mexico, the Bahamas, and New Zealand to our Bigfoot Hoops events as well as from throughout the US including Alaska and Hawaii.
Kicking off the 2017 season is the Las Vegas Easter Showdown (April 13-15). This event is sure to be a great measuring stick for teams looking to play against top level talent from across the nation in the great city of Las Vegas. For the past 20 years, our staff has worked aggressively to make this event a quality showcase of talent from some of the best teams from a large range of age divisions. This event has been highlighted in the past years by the likes of the Houston Hoops EYBL, Oklahoma Impact, SCA Elite, Las Vegas Knicks, and the Las Vegas Prospects. The age divisions for participants is 9U-17U in the boy’s division, and for girls, 14U, 15U and varsity.
The H-Town Classic is set for another great run April 21-23 in Houston, TX. This is the event where college coaches get to begin their quest to find the players who will help their respected programs compete for national championships. The first “live period” event for coaches to evaluate players will send many of the nation’s best writers and scouting services to the H-Town Classic, which gives participants a large level of visibility and exposure. The best teams from the state of Texas and surrounding states will battle it out all weekend to find out who will wear the crown. Some of the talent that was seen in 2016 were the likes of EP Elite (LA), TJ Ford Elite, Shooting Stars (TX), D-Gib Nation (TX), and the Arkansas Wings.
The Las Vegas Grand Opening is set for April 28-30 and will be just as competitive in 2017 as in years past. The second week of the spring “live period” is yet another opportunity for participants to be evaluated by college coaches as well as scouting services. This is yet again a great measuring tool for players to compete against quality competition, and be seen by coaches from various schools. In 2016, the event brought out the likes of Idaho Select, I-Can All Stars (CA), LV Stars, West Coast Academy (CA), and the Las Vegas Punishers.
The Kingwood Classic is tapped for April 28-30 in 2017 and this event needs no introduction. This event was long considered the standard for elite competition and high level play. This year it will draw teams from all across the country who will battle it out for the crown during the “live” period. The Kingwood Classic has a star-studded alumni list with the likes of Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, Kevin Love, Marc Gasol, and various other players who have gone on to play Division 1 basketball as well as the NBA. This event will surely be a sellout as well as the place to be for college coaches and scouting services.
